For the Week of May 21, 2012

Hello Families,

It’s hard to believe this is our last newsletter of the school year! We will miss the 6th graders that are leaving for junior high and are anxious to greet a new group of 4th graders in the fall. Our 6th grade students traveled to Liberty Center last week to shadow the current 7th grade students so they could get an idea of what to expect in the fall and the 3rd grade class came over to compete in the spelling bee and take a tour of our building.

Our schedule this week is full of end of the year activities. Monday we have a group of Band students traveling to Adventureland. Wednesday is field day (Don’t forget your sun block!), and also a 1:30 dismissal. Thursday is the final character trip of the year to Fairlane Bowl in Knoxville and then we wrap up the year on Friday with the Awards assembly at 9:00 am and another 1:30 dismissal. Students will be free to go home with their parents following the assembly.

As some of you may have heard, I will be taking on a new role in the district as principal for kindergarten through 6th grade next year. I will split my time between the Milo and Lacona buildings. I am looking forward to my new position and am grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you for sharing your children with all of us here at the Intermediate building this school year. Enjoy your time with them this summer; August 22nd will be here before we know it.

About Our School

Approximately 120 students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in the Southeast Warren Community School District attend the Intermediate School here in Lacona, Iowa.

The students read to learn, do more advanced math computations, and explore the world around them. They also learn how to daily interract with others in a caring and productive way.
