Parents can make online payments from home or work, 24/7. If their student’s food service balance is low, it only takes a few minutes to add money to it using their VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit or debit card. Payments are made through the student’s School Dining System account.

To make online payments:

  • Visit our district website and click on Lunch Account on the nutrition page, then log into your lunch account.
  • Or, go directly to the web store at
  • Click on Meal Account Deposits
  • You will need your School Dining System Login and Password

Free and Reduced Meals
Did you know that you can apply for free and reduced meals at any time through-out the school year? If you were not eligible at the start of the year, but have had a change of income from events such as being laid off, the free and reduced program can help out.

Not only does this program help families make ends meet, it is also beneficial for the school. Many grants give preference to schools with a higher percentage of students on the free and reduced lunch program. The higher the percentage, the more funds that can be available for the district.

Free and Reduced Meals - How It Works
Students on the free or reduced lunch program are eligible to receive one lunch and one breakfast at the free or reduced price. Each meal must consist of three items from different food groups to qualify.

BREAKFAST: 1/2 cup of a fruit is now required for a meal. Students must take 3 of 4 offered food groups:

  • milk
  • fruits/vegetables
  • grains/bread
  • meat/meat alternative

LUNCH: students must take 3 of 5 offered food groups. As required by the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act, students are required to take at least 1/2 cup of a fruit or vegetable. The 5 food groups are:

  • milk
  • fruits
  • grains/bread
  • vegetables
  • meat/meat alternative

If what is on the tray does not qualify as a meal, the items will be charged at ala carte prices - you will NOT receive the free/reduced benefit. Extra servings are not included in the free/reduced program and will be charged at regular prices. These rules are set by the USDA as part of the National School Lunch Program.

Charging Levels for Students
  • Level I - Meal only - students may charge one meal per serving period (lunch and breakfast) per day. No charging extra servings or ala carte items allowed.
  • Level II - Allow charging extra servings. This will allow students to charge extra entrees, side dishes, desserts and milk - any items that are prepared in the kitchen or served by the cooks. Students are not allowed to charge ala carte items with the exception of bottled water.

If you have any request that is not covered by the three levels, such as extra milk only, breakfast limits, or certain ala carte items that will be allowed, please let us know so we can put a notation on the account. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail or call 641-466-3331 ext. 224.

If you did not indicate a charging level on your registration form, they will be automatically be a level I and will be allowed to charge meals only until we have a written note from you to change it.

Please inform your students of their charging levels. While the staff will make every attempt to follow these levels, it is the responsibility of the student to know what they can and cannot charge, particularly at the Jr-Sr High School level where there are more options for students.

Lunch Account Online Access

The online lunch account access allows parents and guardians to check their students' lunch account balance and monitor what charges to the account.

Families must have a user name and password to login to their account. To receive these, please send an email to , indicating in the email your choice for a password. Usernames are pre-assigned by the software.

Family Accounts - All students from one family share one account. This means only one check needs to be sent for all the students in a family, and it may be sent to any school building.

Individual student accounts can be set up, if a parent/guardian prefers. Please make sure to indicate on the check which account it should be deposited into.

District-Wide Use - Students may use the funds in this account for breakfast and lunch at any of the three school buildings. Ala Carte items at the high school are not allowed to be charged, with the exception of bottled water.
