SPECIAL EDUCATION

CREDIT: 1 (grades 9-12 only)
OFFERED: 1st and/or 2nd Semester
PREREQUISITE: Formal Admission to a Special Program

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students who have been identified as needing an Individual Education Program (IEP) are eligible for classes that are modified to meet their individual needs. Determination of the most appropriate placement is a staffing team decision. Placement emphasis is on regular classroom integration with modification as needed. Students requiring instruction outside of the regular classroom are taught a separate or parallel curriculum in the special education classroom in math, science, social studies, language arts, reading and life and vocational skills. These classes offer small student-teacher ratios and instruction at the student’s ability level.
