COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY


TECH AIDE I

GRADE: 9-12
SEMESTERS: Year
CREDIT: 1
PREREQUISITE: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will help in basic trouble shooting of PC’s. Address basic hardware and software issues, including simple networking problems. Students will get a brief overview of school’s network.

AREAS OF STUDY:
1. Motherboards
2. RAM
3. Internal devices
4. Operating systems

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. Able to change hardware devices in a computer system
2. Able to make basic software diagnosis
3. Able to work alone and use basic problem solving techniques


TECH AIDE II

GRADE: 10-12
SEMESTERS: Year
CREDIT: 1
PREREQUISITE: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will be expected to help in all phases of networking. This will include working with switches, routers and servers

AREAS OF STUDY:
1. Motherboards
2. RAM
3. Networking configurations and implementation
4. Operating systems

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. Ability to change hardware devices in a computer system
2. Ability to make advanced software diagnosis
3. Ability to make basic networking diagnosis


AUDIO-VIDEO EDITING

GRADE: 9-12
SEMESTERS: 1
CREDIT: 1
OFFERED: 1st and/or 2nd Semester
PREREQUISITE: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to audio video editing. Students will get the opportunity to work with various facets of video editing. They will create commercials and short videos using various video editing software programs.

AREAS OF STUDY:
1. Basic camera, camcorder use
2. Moviemaker
3. Ulead
4. Premier
5. Audio editing
6. Creating DVDs

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. Ability to work alone and collaboratively in groups
2. Demonstrate ability to import images and video into computer from various sources
3. Ability to edit clips, add titles and transitions to video
4. Ability to save, render and create DVD’s


ADVANCED COMPUTER

GRADE: 11-12
SEMESTERS: 1
CREDIT: 1
OFFERED: 1st and/or 2nd Semester
PREREQUISITE: Instructor Approval

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will learn how to install various operating software programs and how to do basic network maintenance.
