What a school counselor does:
- Serves as a bridge between home, school, and the community
- Talks with students in classrooms, small groups, and
individually.
- Aids teachers and parents in helping children
- Helps in identifying the needs of children
- Provides information on parenting skills
- Maintains confidences
- School counselors have classroom, group, and individual
counseling in which they help students to:
- Recognize and understand their feelings and the
feelings of others
- Accept themselves and others
- Recognize, understand, and work through learning
difficulties
- Talk about their educational and personal-social
concerns
- Problem solving skills
- Adjust to family changes such as moving, a new
sibling, divorce, etc.
- Learn about careers

Wednesday: Melcher-Dallas Elementary, 641-947-3151
Thursday: SEW Intermediate School – All Day
Friday: SEW Intermediate School – Morning, SEW Primary School - Afternoon
